Getting to San Juan Island

Air Travel:

Land-based Air Service

San Juan Airlines offers frequent daily air service from Boeing Field in Seattle, to the San Juan Islands. These convenient thirty-minute flights require advance reservations. You do need to be aware that baggage allowances are fairly minimal, as these are small airplanes, carrying from seven to twelve passengers. Shuttle service is provided between Seatac International airport and Boeing Field, the departure point.

Floatplane Air Service

Kenmore Air, based in Seattle, offers frequent flights to the San Juans from Lake Union. The floatplane trip takes about 45 minutes, and offers low-altitude views you won't soon forget. Luggage is limited on these flights, and reservations are required.

Airport to Ferry Shuttle Service
Bellair Charters offers year-round bus service from Seatac International Airport, to the Anacortes ferry terminal approximately seven times each day. Once at Anacortes, walk-on ferry boarding is available on the normal San Juan Island runs. This can be a convenient way to visit the islands, separately from an initial group coming by car. Reservations are suggested.

Driving & Ferries
:

Washington State Ferries
A part of the Washington State highway system, the State operates a fleet of large auto/passenger ferries sailing from Anacortes, Washington to the four largest islands within the San Juan Island group. Numerous sailings occur each day. This trip, through placid inland waters, with views of wildlife and the full beauty of the San Juan Islands is regarded as one of the most beautiful available in the lower 48 states.

Ferries operate on a first-come, first-serve basis with no reservations available. It is advisable to be at the Anacortes departure terminal at least one hour prior to sailing times, and during weekend, holiday and the high summer season, substantially more time should be allowed. The Anacortes terminal offers light refreshments, and there is a walking beach nearby. Your visit begins at the terminal, so bring some food and enjoy the party!
